3 Ingredients Of A Successful Marketing Mindset

The podcasts are becoming more and more infrequent.

I promised you three a week minimum.

Almost half of this week is gone and this is my

first podcast for this week.

As I am sucked in by more and more work for my

mentors and my clients, I find it increasingly

difficult to come to you.

Anyway, let's see the 3 most important ingredients

of a successful marketing mindset.

1. Calculate The Lifetime Value Of Your Client:

When you know it exactly, you know how much you

can afford to spend on gaining a new customer.

Rather than shooting in the dark, you can move

forward confidently.

2. What Kind Of Guarantee You Can Give?

If you give a 30 day guarantee, see if you can

give 60 day one. If you give 60 day, see if you

can give a 90 day one.

In short give the longest guarantee period that

you can give. Of course that goes without saying

you sell great products and services.

3. Do you do Word Of Mouth?

If you want to use the cheapest mode of advertising,

then this is the way to go.

Train your clients to refer you, recommend you

and carry your flag, you have hit gold.

Think about it.

Do something about it.

and marketing consultant Edward Santosh.

Classic 5 Direct Marketing Mistakes - Part 2:

Welcome back to the second edition of the

classic mistakes, marketers enjoy doing.

Enjoy --- yes.

Otherwise so many of them won't be doing it

right?

4. Know Thy Offer : How many of us jump into writing

the sales letter even without deciding on the offer.

Is it any wonder your sales copy rambles like

a rudderless ship?

5. Know Thy Benefits: How many of us spluttered the

price before explaining benefits only to see sales

falling thru the cliff?

Here are a couple of bonus points for you.

I am feeling generous here. winking

Know Thy Right Price: How many of the marketers test

different price points to find out that the market

is more comfortable paying a higher price than a

lower one. How nice... big smile

Know Thy Test: Most marketers commit this mistake.

Big time. They don't test their malings. At the most

some will test is the headline. But this is the 5%,

the rest don't care. How sad...

You can test offers, test the list, test the headline,

test the responsive device and a tons more.

However if you want to create sales copy the right

way, you know where to go right?

Classic 5 Direct Marketing Mistakes - Part 1:

Here are the Top 5 Classic Direct marketing mistakes

committed by marketers according to Jay Conrad

Levinson, the father of Guerilla Marketing:

Here they are:

1. Know Thy Market: If you don't know who

your target market is, you are in for a shock.

Your efforts will bomb and everything would

be in vain.

2. Know Thy List: Have a clear idea on the

psychographics and demographics of the

market and their buying patterns and behaviours.

If they have no desire for your product, you know

where you end up, right?

3.Know Thy Objectives: Decide on the offer. What your

prospects has to do to get the stuff from you. Your

bonuses. Without all these, you are at best an

archer shooting with eyes closed shut.

I'll come to you with part 2 tomorrow.

The 3 Essential Components Of Marketing

How are you guys doing?

This is my 3rd podcast of this month.

As I am slowly drowning in my copy projects,

I am finding it little bit difficult to be

regular.

But I promise to do atleast 3 podcasts a week

for you.

Let me dive right into todays issue.

By the end of the podcast you can identify

what you are doing wrong with your marketing

materials.

1. Weak Headline: Weak and wimpy headlines

are a sure recipe to get your stuff thrown

into the garbage.

Add emotions, talk to their problems and

hit it where it hurts most to get the

prospects read the rest.

2. Wimpy Copy: If all you talk about you

in your letter, do you think your prospects

gonna care ?

Think about it. They are already drooling

with so many problems and things to handle,

they simply don't have the time to read

about your achievements and the awards you

won.

3. Wobbling Offer: If you are lucky to get

your materials read, thank goodness, if you

have an wobbling offer which is not clear what

you bring to the table and what needs to be

done next, let me put it mildly.

You are DOOMED.

Thinks about it.

Do something about it.

Of course, you can always ask me to create

your sales letters and opt-in pages.

Do This 2 & Watch Your Profits Soar

As the new year has dawned on us, we

business men & women have to think about

growing our profits, right?

After all, that is one of the reasons we are

in business.

Would you be interested in knowing the 2 things

which will have a direct impact on your

bottom line?

I thought so. winking

Here they are without much ado:

a. Take care of your clients.

They do business with you and give away

the dough in return for your goods and

services.

When you truly care about them, they'll

spend a lot more on you.

b. Be the first go to guy/gal:

Develop the relationship with your clients

so that you become the first go to guy/gal

when they need something you sell.

This is possible with all the upsells,

cross sells you bring to the table.

Think about it.

5 Steps To Make 2007 More Profitable.

a. Redefine: The new year is a good time

to look into new markets you can enter.

If you are selling too narrow a niche, look for ways

how you can move up a notch or if you are

selling to a too broad an audience, find out

if you can go down a notch and be the dominant

player in the market.

b. Change The Process: Are you just functioning as

an order taker? Expecting your customer to know

everything about you? Is your sales process

a consultative one?

c. Explain - Educate: Do you educate your clients

sufficiently to help them get the results they

are looking for from you? If yes, how do you do

that? If not, why not?

d. Differentiate: In what ways are you different

from your competition? Price? Terms? Product?

Delivery? Service?

e. Remove The Risk: Do you completely remove

the risks on doing business with you?

If not, why not?

If yes, think of ways how you can improve that

so that, doing business with you becomes

a snap for your clients.

Of course, to write your sales copy, you

contact me.

Top 7 Things I Learned In 2006 - Part 2

If you want to look at the first part

here's where you go:

Part 1

4. Choose a mentor and stick with him.

For example my copywriting mentors are

Kelvin Parker & Dr. Harlan Kilstein

I am trying to learn and implement as much

as I learn from them.

In marketing my mentors are Jay Abraham &

Bob Bly

Do I have to say I am incredibly blessed

because of them?

5. Choose a system to assist you in achieving

all that you can be. I chose

Mark Joyner

as my system coach. Did I say he's teaching it

for free?

6. Create and instill habits which will

put you in good stead. This year I decided

enough is enough and I took charge of my

life and decided that its habits that

gives me the change I need in my life.

I have installed several good habits

which is literally transforming my

life.

7. Connect with the higher power.

I don't know your belief systems and I am

not trying to change it. My business here

is to help you make the most out of your

business and thereby developing myself as

a marketing consultant & copywriter.

However, it's the belief in my Lord & Saviour

Jesus which has helped me in connecting

me with the purpose for which I am here.

As we wind up an year, it's time for us

to do a check up on the things on our plate.

I wanted to share the top 7 things I picked up

this year.

As I look back 2006 is a year with mixed

blessings.

Here are the things I learned this year:

a. If I have to make it, I have to take

responsibility for everything that's

happening or happened.

I can not blame anyone or anything for

what's in my life.

I own 100% responsibility.

b. Growth does not happen in a day.

It happens daily. - Pat MesitiI.

If I want to grow as a Copywriter &

marketing consultant, I have to do

certain things daily. Like creating this

blog /podcast, everyday.

c. Be the Time Steward, you can be proud of.

Time just flies and there's no way I can

live the year 2006 ever again.

Being responsible for every minute, I live

life to the full.

By recording this in my blog/podcast, I am

reinforcing these beliefs.

I'll explain next four in the coming podcasts.

3 Steps To Jack Up Your Marketing

This is Christmas season.

You are busy with your shopping or if

you are on the other side, busy handling

your customers, right?

Today I am coming with another short podcast

on how to jack up your marketing in just

3 simple steps.

Interested?

I thought so.

Step 1: Do you give incentives for your

clients to buy from you? Do you give

them reasons to buy from you?

Step 2: Do you continously monitor your

sales so that you know how each of your

process is performing at any time of the

day? Do you have any idea how your Yellow

pages is performing for instance? How about

flyers?

Step 3: Do you reinforce the buying behaviours

of your client? By surprising them with an

offer they can't refuse. With providing so

much value that they can't even dream doing

business with others.

Think about it.

Of course ask me to create your sales copy

because I write copy that sells.

Oh ok, that's a plug.

Hey think about it.

Do something about it.

Ok. I hear you telling it's just 3 days.

Yes. It's only 3 days and I miss you all.

Todays podcast may be the smallest I ever

did.

Okay what is the one thing you are doing

wrong?

It's very simple and so you miss it big time.

We the business owners are always running

forget our clients who already bought from

us.

Do you follow up with your clients?

In this Christmas season, have you sent

It may be the personal touch you add to

If you think you are in widget business

selling widgets to your prospects and

customers, you are badly mistaken my

friend.

You are in the selling business happen to

be selling the widgets.

Now how to become a selling machine...?

You already have started the process.

How?

By becoming a subscriber to this blog

and the podcast, you are already a

student of marketing.

The second step will be to learn from

the masters.

Jay Abraham, Jay Conrad Levinson, Dan Kennedy, Brian Tracy

are some of the greats I am learning from.

The third step would be to take action.

Some spend all their lives learning and

forgetting to do.

It is action which takes you to the goals.

So you started your business.

You want lots and lots of people to experience

your service.

You have your marketing in place.

But not many are coming in.

You are looking at your car parking lot.

It looks rather empty.

Is it any wonder that you are blaming the

stars?

There is hope.

Let me show you a simple one step plan

which will make people gatecrash into

you.

Interested ?

I thought so. smiley

Give them a NO risk proposition at

a very small price.

Say you run a hair dresser. If you charge

$25 for a normal hair cut, give the intro

special at $9.95 with a satisfaction

guarantee.

When they are satisfied, you can rope them

in for the backend by giving them an

offer of 5 haircuts for just $60.

Now you have locked in the customer.

Add a customer referral program and

give incentives in the form of discounts

on hair cream, shampoo & stuff.

Do you think more and more of satisfied

customers will be gatecrashing into you?

Send me a testimonial.

The 2 Step Formula To More Sales:

Would you be interested in a simple 2 step formula

that will get you more sales?

Therefore more profits?

1. Do you care about your clients?

If you care about your clients, you'll spend

more time looking for products and services

which will truly help them.

If you help them make profit, you'll

automatically make more profits right?

2. Insist on delivering nothing but the

best.

As a person responisble for the well being

of your client, you have to insist your clients

get the whole deal.

Me being a copywriter I write sales copy.

But I don't see myself doing just that.

I want to participate in my client's whole

marketing efforts and will suggest

areas they can improve.

This way not only the client is happy that

he or she gets the result they want, but also

for the fact that I make a meaningful

contribution.

Now what is the one factor which brings in profits

for you?

It's the risk reversal.

Did you see my tagline?

I write copy that sells or your money back.

What does it mean?

If my copy doesn't sell, I don't want your

money.

Why?

I believe in pay for performance.

So what?

You can rest assured that you are not

throwing something in the hope that it

sticks.

So what?

Because you only pay for the results,

you get to pay me out of your profits

and not from your pockets.

So what?

Because you pay from your profits, you

are assured that you get some compelling

copy that converts like crazy.

Which means...

a. Check the number of revenue streams. If it is

just one or two, see how you can increase the

number.

b. Bring the dead back to life. Contact your old

customers and see how you can make them buy

from you more.

c. Do an audit on your customer acquisition

strategy. Even if it means a small loss on the

front end, if you have strong back end, you

will make it big time.

d. Do you test your advertisements? Whether

it's a flyer, brochure, inserts or your sales

letter, test it and you can increase your

profits by a large number.

e. Do a mindset audit? Do you really enjoy what

you do? Do you make a positive difference to

Before that, I want to ask you a question:

God forbid this happens.

But, let's assume it happens to you.

You have been advised complete bed rest for the

next 6 months. Ok Make it 12 months.

Do you think your business will survive your

absence that long?

I'll let you imagine that for a moment.

Ready?

I thought so.

a.Do you have proper systems and structure in place?

Everything is so very well documented and properly

structured that it works on auto pilot?

b.Do you have a line of products to sell your

existing clients that they'll keep you in

business even if you are not there?

c.To make the above two work, do you have

the followup system designed & tested so that

it functions flawless?

d. Last but not the least, does your sales

material sell? Does it convert well so that

you can take a prolonged absence from your

business, yet your business feeds you and your

children month in month out?

3 Simple Steps To Identify Your Dream Client?

Or

How to identify your dream target market?

Would you like to identify your dream client

in 3 simple steps ?

a. Identify Your Thirsty Crowd. This is the group

of people who has a problem and looking for ways

to solve it. If you do this right, you are way,

way ahead of others.

b. Find out if they can spend on your solution.

Let me give an example: Let us assume you sell

How To Get Good Grades?. What will happen if you

sell it to the students? It would be tough to

breakeven. Why? Students have very small budget

and they try to survive on very limited funds.

However, if you sell it to the Parents,

you'll do good because they have money and they

have the satisfaction of helping their child?

c. What else can you sell them? After helping

your clients with the initial product, find out

what else you can sell them? If it is a one-off

product you sell, then they may not be your

dream clients.

This is your friendly neighborhood

copywriter and marketing consultant

Edward Santosh signing off.

3 Decisions To Convert A So- So Business Into A Thriving Business?

Here are three strategies you can implement to

make your business a thriving one in the year 2007.

a. Decide exactly what you want. More concrete, decide

on the exact numbers you would like to achieve. Your

goals should be SMART.

Specific
Measurable
Acceptable
Realistic
Timebound

b. Decide on the target market you want to serve.

And oh no, the whole world is not your marketplace.

By selecting a target market you become not only

better known but can also charge a premium for

your services.

c. Decide on the mindset. Do you see your clients

as an income stream or as family? If you look

at them as family, your chances of success

increases exponentially.

A small quiz before I start:

How many of you have seen boring, beat me to

death brochures, inserts and sales pages

that talk about "Me ME , MEE"

Here is my 2 simple ways you can make your

marketing materials sing and stand apart:

a. Write your sales material in your

customers point of view. Let me tell you

a secret.

She doesn't care the hoot about how long

you are in business and how big you are

and the awards you won.

b. Rain them with benefits:

All she cares about is what she is going

to get from you.

So, tell her all the benefits she can get

when she deals with you.

Do this and see the difference it makes

in your marketing.

And when you need help creating your

sales letters you know where to go

right?

Oh yes, that's me. Your friendly

neighborhood copywriter and marketing

consultant Edward Santosh.

You can mail me or skype me

if you want. I'd love to talk to

my clients and friends.

All the time.

See ya tomorrow.

This is your friendly neighborhood copywriter

and marketing consultant Edward Santosh coming to

you with today's edition of podcast titled:

Kill Your Competition By Being A Friend

By being a friend to your clients.

How?

a. Mail them often giving them useful information

that they can use.

b. Treat them as family. You don't want shove stuff

with your family right?

I am reminded of David Ogilvy saying:

"Your customer is not a moron. She is your wife"

Food for thought, eh?

c. Give them a Wow experience. You under promise

and over deliver. Make it so good that your clients

feel they got everything for free, for the simple

reason you over delivered so much.

Action Item Of The Day:

Think about how you can become "friends" with your

client.

This is your friendly neighborhood copywriter

and marketing consultant Edward Santosh

signing off for the day.

See ya tomorrow.
